Owners add new campsites and cabins

In January, the owners of the Leander/Northwest Austin KOA Campground are making all of the campsites full-service by adding satellite television, something they said guests have often requested.

The campground also has six new cabins and additional campsites in response to campers' feedback, co-owner Merry Motley said. In the past two years, she and her husband, Ronnie, have improved the former Sunshine RV Park with laundry facilities, upgraded Wi-Fi and a new covered pavilion.

The Motleys joined the KOA network in 2009, Merry said.

"It's made us part of the big KOA family, as well as attractive to travelers that go cross-country," she said.

Drivers of motor homes, trailers and pop-up campers, along with guests who prefer climate-controlled cabins, filled the campground to capacity during the holiday season.

"We stayed full most of the year," she said. "It's really been very productive over the last year after the economy came back."

Campers appreciate the campground's saltwater pool and hot tub. Many guests also enjoy staying closer to their local relatives.

"It's home to them," she said. "We look forward to visitors coming back year after year."
