Two brothers are opening a kolache bakery, taproom and retail craft beer shop in January at 3220 Manor Road, Austin.
Noah and Josh Lit, who have lived in the Manor neighborhood for 20 years, said they decided after touring with their band through Texas that the Czech pastries are a "comfort food" that go well with beer at any time.

They came up with the concept
Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches and decided it to house it in a renovated 1940s stone ranch house on Manor Road.
The new taproom and bakery will also have a beer garden and coffee shop, with specialty beers from local breweries such as Hops & Grain, Blue Owl and Austin Beerworks as well as beers from Belgium and Germany.
The menu will feature eight signature kolaches with four rotating specials, including a kolache with Micklethwait Craft Meats pork sausage and cheese; a veggie sausage and cheese kolache; a Micklethwait Craft Meats brisket, pickle and Swiss cheese kolache; a jalapeno and cheese kolache; and a kolache with chocolate, pecans, and caramel. They will be made by pastry chef Jasmine Jones, who is teaming up with Micklethwait Craft Meats and local fruit vendors.
The Lit brothers are also partnering with Greater Goods Roasting—an Austin-based company that gives back to local charities—to provide coffee and espresso.
Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches will be open Sun.-Thu. 7 a.m.-11 p.m. and Fri.-Sat- 7 a.m.-midnight.
