In addition to traditional Japanese fare, such as sushi rolls, grilled foods and more, Tokai Restaurant Japanese Hibachi & Sushi expended its menu in late summer to offer a new selection of Chinese dishes and chef specials.
General Manager Peter Ho said the restaurant eliminated its salad, soup and appetizer lunch buffet and instead serves either soup or salad with most lunch dishes.
We have Chinese and Japanese lunch specials, he said. We serve you, so its much more of a full-service experience now. Owners Wendy Wei and Ricky Chen opened Tokai in the Railyard Shopping Center in 2007. Many of the new chef specialities are prepared by Chen, who said he worked as a chef in Tokyo, and include the Far Eastern, which has pan-fried noodles with chicken, beef, shrimp and mixed vegetables in a brown sauce.
We have 20 to 30 variations of different entrees, Ho said. We also added lo mein noodles to the menu, which are a big hit.
