Construction on the first eight model homes of Starlight Village will be completed by early summer, said Mike Kopecky, owner of Starlight Village LLC, the developer of the project. Upon completion, the property, located at 1001 Horizon Park Blvd., will have 29 detached homes. The property is located 1.8 miles from the Capital Metro's MetroRail station.
Starlight Village will include "mid-century modern architecture with 21st century floor plans" ranging from 1,300 to 3,000 square feet, according to Starlight Village. Buyers can choose from eight different floor plans and site amenities will include a quarter-mile walking trail, an off-leash dog park, a half-acre nature preserve and a pool pavilion with a deck.
Mike Kopecky said the units can be customized for features including flooring, roofing and lighting. Windows and paint color can also be chosen by the buyer, he said.
“I grew up in the [1960s] in houses that looked similar to what we're doing [with Starlight Village]," he said. “That was the inspiration for doing this."
Interested buyers can reserve a lot for $2,000, which is refundable until home construction begins.
On Dec. 4, 2014, council approved a planned unit development for the 5.69-acre property. The PUD, designed to offer flexible zoning and subdivision standards, allows the developer to build homes with architectural features and materials that vary from the city’s existing requirements. Homes prices start in the mid-$200,000s range.
Willie and Mike Kopecky, owners of Starlight Village LLC, are father and son and U.S. Air Force veterans. Willie, Mike's father, has built previous projects in Cedar Park including the Texaco and Chevron gas stations on FM 1431, according to Starlight Village.
