Wind turbine service technicians earned the top spot on a list of fastest growing jobs in Texas, according to a new report by career website Zippia.

Zippia took data from each state's Department of Labor and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics to compile the report, identifying the occupations in Texas that are projected to have at least 1,000 workers in 2024 and ranking them based on job growth in 2017.

Technical and healthcare jobs dominated the list for the Lone Star State.

1. Wind turbine service technicians


Also known as windtechs, wind turbine service technicians install, maintain and repair wind turbines.

2. Statisticians


These include clinical data managers that direct the planning, implementation and overall direction of activities such as database development and release.

3. Occupational therapy assistants


Occupational therapy assistants help patients develop skills needed for daily living and working.

4. Nurse practitioners


Nurse practitioners coordinate patient care and provide primary and specialty healthcare.

5. Diagnostic medical sonographers


Workers perform sonographic examinations, including ultrasounds.

6. Operations research analysts


Analysts use advanced mathematical and analytical methods to help organizations solve problems and make better decisions.

7. Reinforcing iron and rebar workers


These iron workers monitor and maintain building systems, and execute minor construction projects.

8. Physical therapist assistants


PTAs assist physical therapists in helping patients regain movement and manage pain.

9. Cardiovascular technologists and technicians


This job involves monitoring cardiac rhythms through direct cardiac monitors.

10. Physician assistants


PAs examine, diagnose and treat patients alongside physicians, surgeons and other healthcare workers.

11. Construction workers


These include brickmasons, blockmasons, stonemasons and tile and marble setters.

12. Interpreters and translators


This job involves converting written information from one language into another.

13. Cartographers and photogrammetrists


This job involves analyzing images and evaluating the procedures, processes, techniques, models and methodologies used to development complex solutions to requirements.

15. Restaurant cooks
