A hot dog-focused eatery will close March 21 after almost six years in business.
Man Bites Dog started as a food truck in November 2009 before expanding to a brick-and-mortar location at 5222 Burnet Road in June 2011. Owner Jeremiah Allen said there were not enough customers coming through the Man Bites Dog doors to sustain the business. The recent boom of restaurants along the Burnet Road corridor also created competition that did not help the business, he said. Allen said he currently has no new food ventures planned. The menu at Man Bites Dog included specialty dogs, fries, tater tots and macaroni and cheese. A local food truck is taking over the space, Allen said. However, he said he would rather let the new business announce that news when it is ready. NOW OPEN—Massage by Maisie opened March 10 at 1001 S.
