The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority announced Wednesday it has hired an assistant city manager from the city of Austin.

At the end of its board of directors meeting, Executive Director Mike Heiligenstein said the Mobility Authority hired Robert Goode, who has served as the city’s assistant city manager for transportation services since March 2008.

“I am so blessed and honored to join this high-performing team,” Goode told the board.

Goode will start his new role Dec. 11 as the second deputy executive director for the Mobility Authority, joining Jeff Dailey, who holds the same position. Goode will manage projects and programs for the agency.

“The need of the agency going forward is evident, particularly with 183 North coming online,” Heiligenstein said. “Robert, thank you for your willingness to serve the people of Central Texas in another capacity.”

Goode has more than 35 years of experience working in city, county and civil engineering management, according to a news release.

During his tenure with the city of Austin, Goode oversaw the city’s Infrastructure Services Group, which includes Austin Resource Recovery, Austin Water, the Corridor Program Office and the public works and transportation departments.

“I am pleased Robert will continue focusing on our region’s mobility challenges in this new role and am thankful for his years of service to the Austin community,” Austin City Manager Spencer Cronk said in a news release. “I look forward to an ongoing partnership with the Mobility Authority and continued opportunities to work with Mr. Goode.”
