A conceptual site plan for a potential Major League Soccer stadium at McKalla Place in North Austin was released Tuesday by TBG Parnters and Gensler, architecture firms working with Columbus Crew operating group Precourt Sports Ventures.

The plan for the 24.9-acre property would include a music and performance space outside the stadium as well as walkways, trails and a dedicated open space on the grounds outside the venue.

The plan includes three parking areas, totaling 1,000 spaces for the proposed 20,000-seat stadium and a bicycle valet with space for 500 bicycles.

Four vehicle access points are included in the conceptual plan: two from Burnet Road, one from Braker Lane and one from McKalla Place. Also included is an optional point for a new Capital Metro rail station and a crosswalk. The Kramer MetroRail station is located near the site, north of Braker Lane.

PSV has not entered into any direct negotiations with the city of Austin regarding the city-owned McKalla Place lot. City staff has been analyzing the potential fit of an MLS stadium and the property since March and will report back to city council with their findings by June 1.

However, the Crew's operating group has released some details about a potential move to Austin.

In a May 8 public information session at the Northwest Recreation Center, PSV representative Richard Suttle said the club is targeting 2019 to move to Austin and 2021 to build a new stadium.

He also indicated that PSV would intend to privately finance the stadium, and the land and stadium would remain city-owned.

At a May 1 public information session, Suttle said the concept of shuttling soccer fans to the new stadium from The Domain has been suggested in response to concerns over traffic.
