Robert Isbell began his tenure as Round Rock’s fire chief with a swearing-in ceremony Monday outside of Fire Station No. 4, one of two new fire stations that opened this week in Round Rock.
Isbell previously held the position of fire chief for the city of Midland and was
selected by the city of Round Rock in October o to fill a vacancy created when
David Coatney accepted the fire chief position for the city of Dallas in June.
Isbell said his first days as fire chief were great, having met “extremely hospitable” people both publicly and professionally. He also had positive feedback on the opening of the new fire stations.
“They are beautiful,” Isbell said. “The real exciting part is that there was the foresight to strategically locate them and to have built them to where they are set [for] future growth. I am excited for the personnel who get to experience working in the new stations.”
Fire Station No. 4 opened at 1301 Double Creek Drive, and Fire Station No. 8 opened at 1612 Red Bud Lane. Both stations are part of
planned improvements to emergency services in Round Rock, which also include a new public safety training center that broke ground in November.
