Solid waste customers will notice an increase in their bills beginning in October.

City Council approved the rate increases at its Aug. 26 meeting. Texas Disposal Systems, the citys solid waste provider, said the rate increases were needed to help offset rising fuel and labor costs.

In-city rates will increase from $16 to $16.50, and out-of-city rates will increase from $22 to $22.70.
