Council renames Stadium Drive, county road

City Council approved renaming Stadium Drive, located in San Gabriel Park, to Chamber Way at its Jan. 14 meeting. The roadway had been named Stadium Drive while the Georgetown High School football field was located there. The name was changed to Chamber Way because the only address on the roadway is for the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, Georgetown Transportation Director Ed Polasek said.

Also at the Jan. 14 meeting, the city renamed CR 151, which is the primary roadway to the Georgetown ISD Athletic Complex and Birkelbach Field, to Stadium Drive. Eighty percent of the roadway was annexed into the city limits in 2005. Williamson County commissioners approved renaming the section not in the city limits to Stadium Drive on Jan. 21.
