Beginning April 28 crews will install temporary concrete traffic barriers in the median of RM 2222 under MoPac to protect workers while they narrow the median and construct permanent crash barriers around the existing bridge columns, according to the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority.

The work is being done to make new bike lines on the shoulders of RM 2222 and will require the closure of one of the two left-turn lanes on westbound RM 2222 for access to southbound MoPac. A portion of the eastbound right-turn lane for access to northbound MoPac will also be closed temporarily.

The project is expected to take three weeks to complete.

During that time, drivers may experience some additional travel delays during rush hour. The city of Austin will adjust signal timing to help minimize the impact.
