The Austin Pride Festival and Parade, an event that brings hundreds of thousands of Austinites together downtown to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, will not take place in 2020 due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus, according to a statement from the nonprofit’s board posted June 15.
“As a board we feel the health and safety of everyone comes first and foremost and the most responsible decision for us and for our community, is to postpone until August 2021,” read the statement.
This year’s parade and festival, which was scheduled to take place Aug. 15, would have marked the 30th anniversary of Austin Pride’s event. www.austinpride.org
