Patients at Dell Children’s Medical Center will have a new space to get creative during their hospital stay through the Kendra Scott Creative Center.

Scott, founder of the Austin-based jewelry company, held a grand opening ceremony Sept. 14 at the hospital to celebrate the center's official opening.

The details

According to a news release from the the brand, the Creative Center will be home to several hospital events and personnel, including:
  • Dell Children’s child life specialists, who help children and their families navigate illness, injury, disability, trauma and hospitalization
  • Dell Children’s TV, the hospital’s streaming service
  • The hospital’s creative arts and music therapy programs
  • Kendra Scott’s other pediatric initiatives, such as its Color Bar where patients and caregivers can design their own piece of customized jewelry for free
Scott and her brand have done a variety of pediatric philanthropic work at Dell Children’s since 2014, so bringing the brand’s first Creative Center to the hospital was a “no-brainer,” she said.

“There’s not another facility like [Dell Children’s] in Central Texas that is really providing these services for our children,” Scott said. “As a mom, nothing is worse than seeing your child not well. For me, coming into the hospital and seeing the need to be able to do what I could do, what our company could do, to provide a little bit of joy—a little bit of a break from the stress and struggle of being in the hospital—that’s where this all stemmed from.”
