The city of Austin is offering residents a place to sleep and shower as Austin Energy outages continue for the eighth day.

Thousands of Austin residents lost power starting Jan. 31 due to a multiday ice storm that brought trees and limbs on power lines.

Residents can call 311 or 512-974-2000 to request an overnight stay. Someone with the city will return the call between 7 a.m.-7 p.m. to provide information, according to an Office of Homeland Security Emergency Management press release.

The facilities will have sleeping cots, shower facilities, food and water, pet sheltering, and charging stations, according to the release.
