Austin ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde’s last day with the district will be June 30, and AISD trustees hope to hire her replacement by next summer, according to a May 27 district news release.

Elizalde was selected as the lone finalist in Dallas ISD’s superintendent search last week. The AISD school board met in closed session May 26 to discuss the district’s next steps following her resignation.

Elizalde and the board are working on a transition plan, according to the news release. An interim superintendent will be hired in June.

Community engagement in the search for the next superintendent will begin immediately. The district will post a Request for Proposals for a superintendent search in January 2023. The next AISD superintendent will be selected and hired by summer 2023.
