The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders will mark the grand opening of its $70 million new campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 30, according to a March 29 press release from Austin ISD.
The Ann Richards SYWL is a college-prep school that serves female students in grades 6-12, with the majority of its student population coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, according to the release. The school was formerly housed in a school building built in 1958 and received funding for its modernized campus from the 2017 Austin ISD bond referendum. The new campus opened to students in January 2021.
Official completion of the project will be commemorated at 9:30 a.m. March 30 at the school at 2309 Panther Trail, Austin. The event will include a performance by school band the Marching Stars, remarks from AISD leadership and student-led school tours. Guests are invited to attend. The event will also be livestreamed on AISD.TV.
