Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster opened a new brick and mortar restaurant at 626 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, in the former Counter Café and G/M Steakhouse space March 1.

The restaurant—led by Heidi and Samantha Garbo and chef Yessenia Maldonado—has indoor and outdoor seating as well as a walk-up window for placing to-go orders. The location also accepts business lunch orders and caters to offices.

What’s on the menu?: Garbo’s serves New England fare with a Texas twist, including lobster rolls, fried fish rolls, lobster grilled cheese, and several small plates including smoked mahi dip, crab cakes and shrimp cocktail. The drink menu features beer, wine and nonalcoholic beverages. Garbo’s also offers several to-go grocery packs, such as the chilled lobster meal pack or the shrimp cocktail kit.

Quote of note: “We are very lucky to have the opportunity to take over this restaurant space and make it our own, and to assure Austinites that not all buildings will be knocked down and turned into a high-rise,” co-owner and Manager Samantha Garbo said. “We are also excited to expand to this part of town. There is an energy here, people are happy to be in the area. They can grab a record at Waterloo, shop across the street at Anthropologie or Book People, and then stop by for a bite.”

Garbo’s also opened a new food truck at 823 Congress Ave., Austin, on the corner of Congress Avenue and East Ninth Street. Garbo’s Lobster Trailer on Congress accepts online and in-person orders and is open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. www.garboslobsteratx.com
