What’s happening

Waterloo Greenway officials are inviting residents to give input on the future of historic Sir Swante Palm Neighborhood Park at two upcoming community events.

The details

Waterloo Greenway’s community conversations will be held Aug. 24 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Aug. 26 from 10 a.m.-noon. Both sessions will be held at Tex-Mex restaurant Juan in a Million at 2300 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin.

Residents will be able to speak with members of the design team, share feedback and tell stories about their experiences at Palm Park.

The event is free, and snacks and refreshments will be provided.

The why

Waterloo Greenway officials are seeking community input for the third and final phase of restoring green spaces and creating a 1.5-mile trail network throughout downtown. The third phase—called Palm Park and the Refuge—will transform Palm Park and restore trails from Third Street to 11th Street. The third phase is in the design process and is expected to break ground in 2026.
