LCRA Transmission Services Corporation began construction to increase resiliency of transmission lines through parts of northern Travis County in an effort to prepare for storms and strong wind, according to the release.

The overview

The $43 million project will make sure that transmission lines are able to withstand extreme conditions, such as wind, ice and other weather-related issues. Upgraded lines can help reduce outages and make sure that in the event of an outage, power can be restored quickly, according to the release.

Zooming out

The transmission lines in the project run from near Mansfield Dam off Ranch Road 620 east to the Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park area in North Austin. The lines cross US 183 and MoPac near The Domain shopping center, according to the LCRA release. A map of the route and more information is available at www.lcra.org/marshallford-mcneil.

What to expect

Construction tools and equipment will be on the road, which is expected to cause traffic and slight delay as work progresses. Construction is expected to continue until May.
