After delivering free food to more than 1,500 families April 4 in Northeast Austin, the Central Texas Food Bank announced another food delivery event at LBJ High School on April 15.

The event will take place in the high school’s parking lot, 73009 Lazy Creek Drive, from 9 a.m.-noon.

Families will receive one food box containing about 28 pounds of nonperishable food items such as rice, canned tuna and canned fruit. They will also receive a box of hygiene items, such as baby wipes, shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste.

Similarly to the first event, no walk-up customers will be allowed for safety purposes. Also, all households are asked to send only one person to the event.

At the April 4 event, held at Nelson Field next to Northeast Early College High School, the food bank said 1,515 families received boxes of food. In total, the food bank gave out about 70,000 pounds of frozen and nonperishable food at the event.
