In-person surveys will be conducted throughout the Barbara Jordan Terminal on June 28-29. The online survey will be available until July 7 and takes an estimated 10 minutes to complete.
Travelers will be asked questions such as how often they use the airport, what types of food options they'd like to see and where in the airport they feel more assistance is needed.
In case you missed it
In 2021, ABIA announced its airport expansion program, or Journey with AUS, as part of its 2040 master plan that will address passenger growth.
2022 marked the busiest year for the airport with an approximate 21.1 million passengers, 55% more than in 2021, according to data released by ABIA.
As part of the expansion, the new midfield concourse, which is in its predesign phase, will be constructed in the current airfield and connect to the Barbara Jordan Terminal through a tunnel underground.
On June 1, ABIA settled two lawsuits for $88 million with LoneStar Airport Holdings LLC to acquire the South Terminal that LoneStar is operating. ABIA requires the removal of the South Terminal to construct the midfield concourse and plans to remove the terminal in 2025.
What’s next
Timelines for the design, construction and opening of the new midfield concourse are still being determined, and project costs do not yet have an estimate, according to a news release from ABIA.
