Symphony Square will now be divided between the Austin Symphony Orchestra Society and the Waller Creek Conservancy. The Urban Renewal Agency of the city of Austin and the Austin Symphony Orchestra Society have an existing 50-year lease for Symphony Square that expires in 2025.
Thursday’s decision split Symphony Square into two leases. The portion at the corner of Red River Street and 11
th Street belongs to the Wall Creek Conservancy, while the portion at the corner of Red River Street and 10
th Street will remain with the Austin Symphony Orchestra Society.
The split gives Waller Creek Conservancy a strategic location for the future operation and maintenance of Waller Creek.
