What’s happening

Michael’s will open a new store in the former Bed Bath & Beyond at 1201 Barbara Jordan Blvd., Unit 200, Austin. The craft store offers holiday decor, custom framing, back-to-school supplies, as well as classes and events. An opening date for the new store has not been announced.

The backstory

Austin-area Bed Bath & Beyond and Buybuy Baby locations began winding down operations in the spring following an April 23 announcement that the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
