The filing deadline for candidates to appear on the March 3 primary election passed at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9. The last day to register to vote is Feb. 3, and early voting will begin on Feb. 18.

The March 3 election includes democratic and republican candidates from U.S. President down to local county and district judges. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote in a primary race, the top two vote-getters go to a primary election on Tuesday, May 26. Finally, the general election between the Republican and Democratic nominees is held Nov. 3.

Candidates for Austin City Council and Austin ISD do not participate in the primary elections because those races are non-partisan. Here are the candidates running for local office covering Central Austin and Travis County. You can find the federal elected official who represents your area here, as well as a full list of elected officials representing all or parts of Travis County here.
