Leander ISD families can now access their third through eight grade student's State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, scores, as well as high school STAAR end-of-course exam scores.
The Texas Education Agency released statewide and district-specific scores for Algebra, English, Biology and U.S. History on June 10, and math, reading and social studies on June 16.
Breaking it down
The TEA uses a four-tiered grading system to score STAAR test performance and determine if students need academic intervention in order to succeed in the next grade. "Did not meet grade level" indicates students are likely to need intervention, while "approaches grade level" is considered a passing score but could require some intervention. "Meets grade level" and "masters grade level" indicates students need little to no intervention.
Data for LISD shows that the district's approaches grade level scores outperformed the state in every subject in both 2025 and 2026.
Year-over-year, LISD's approaches grade level scores were the same or higher in every subject with the exception of:
- Third, sixth, seventh and eight grade math
- Third, fourth and sixth grade reading
- Eighth grade social studies

LISD officials reviewed its EOC accelerated instruction program during a June 4 board meeting, noting that in 2025-26 a variety of academic interventions were provided as necessary, including before- or after-school tutoring, flex times built into instructional days, EOC prep sessions and small group instruction.
At the middle school level, campuses utilized Student Success Facilitators, or SSF's, implemented double-blocked periods, and hosted "Super Saturdays" with targeted small group instruction from certified teachers.
This summer, LISD is planning more interventions including an EOC re-tester prep course, an Algebra I prep academy for rising ninth graders, a Logic League for rising third graders at Title One campuses, and asynchronous learning opportunities.

Individual STAAR score reports are available to families through their school district's portal, or at www.texasassessment.gov using the unique access code provided by their student's school.
