Here are winter storm updates for Cedar Park and Leander residents as of 1 p.m. Feb. 3.

Weather update

Most of Central Texas, including Travis and Williamson counties, will stay under a winter storm warning until 9 p.m. Feb. 3. The National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio is forecasting significant icing with freezing rain and sleet. Ice accumulations could total 0.1 to 0.25 inches with up to 0.5 inches in some areas. Sleet accumulation could total 0.25-0.75 inches.

Additionally, wind gusts could reach 35 mph, and windchills could range from zero degrees Fahrenheit through the teens through Feb. 4, according to a 3 a.m. update.




Road conditions

  • The city of Leander is reporting icy roads on Ronald Reagan Boulevard at several locations; U.S. 183 and Crystal Falls Parkway; U.S. 183 at Crystal Falls Parkway; Bagdad Road at Crystal Falls Parkway; RM 2243 from U.S. 183 to 183A Toll; RM 1431 from Travisso Parkway to Cedar Park; and 183A Toll and Hero Way. There is also a low-water crossing at CR 177 through Brushy Creek, and the road is closed, according to the city. Drivers are urged to avoid nonemergency travel.

  • Williamson County Emergency Management reported Feb. 3 that it is deicing bridges on Ronald Regan Boulevard.

  • Texas Department of Transportation's road conditions map is reporting ice and/or snow on major roadways, bridges and overpasses including US 183, 183A Toll, RM 2243, RM 1431, Parmer Lane, RM 620, SH 45 N and Hwy. 29. Travel is discouraged.


Power outages

Pedernales Electric Cooperative is not reporting any widespread power outages in the Cedar Park-Leander area as of 9 a.m. Feb. 3.

Customers can report power outages or check on outages at https://outages.pec.coop. Customers can also call 888-883-3379.


If an outage occurs, PEC recommends not using a stove or oven for heat due to fire and carbon monoxide risks; only running cars outside your garage and ensuring the exhaust pipe is clear of snow or debris; and running generators more than 20 feet from windows and doors to keep fumes outside. Trash pickups

Cedar Park trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day with Feb. 3 collection on Feb. 4 and Feb. 4 collection on Feb. 5.

Al Clawson Disposal has canceled all pickup routes Feb. 3. The company will make a decision about Feb. 4 routes in the afternoon of Feb. 3, according to a Facebook update.


School closures


  • Leander ISD will be closed Feb. 3-4.

  • Austin Community College will be closed Feb. 3-4. All offices will be closed, and virtual classes are also canceled.

  • Harmony Public Schools is closing all Central Texas campuses Feb. 3-4.

  • The University of Texas at Austin will be closed Feb. 3.

  • Several neighboring school districts will also be closed, including Round Rock, Austin, Lake Travis, Eanes, Pflugerville, Georgetown and Hutto school districts.


Government office closures

Williamson County offices will be closed Feb. 3-4. Essential personnel will report for duty, according to a release.

Travis County offices and facilities for nonessential services will be closed Feb. 3. Essential staff will report for duty, according to a release.

The city of Cedar Park is closing several city facilities Feb. 3, including City Hall, the Cedar Park Recreation Center, Milburn Pool, the library and the municipal court.


City of Leander offices will be closed Feb. 3-4. Leander City Council's Feb. 3 meeting is moved to a special meeting Feb. 7.
