Cedar Park will remodel the weight and bunker gear rooms in Fire Stations Nos. 2 and 3—the city’s oldest fire stations—as cancer-prevention measures, according to city documents.

The rooms will be remodeled to reduce firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens and hazardous vehicle emissions. Remodels will enclose the weight and bunker gear rooms with separate air systems from the apparatus bay.

Cedar Park City Council approved a project agreement July 24 with Tegrity Contractors for $283,554. The project is funded through fiscal year 2019-20 limited tax notes, according to the city. The remodels have a 90-day timeline.

Station No. 2 is located at 1570 Cypress Creek Road, and Station No. 3 is located at 1311 Highland Drive.
