Leander moved back to Phase 2 water conservation efforts March 7 following the repair on the new leak in the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority pipeline, which was discovered in mid-February.
Work to repair the 36-inch raw-water pipeline began in late February and was completed on March 1. The pipeline needed to be refilled then monitored to ensure proper functioning before the city returned back to Phase 2, officials said.
Phase 2 in the city’s Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan allows for weekly irrigation before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m. on designated watering days, which are determined by street addresses. Handheld watering is also permitted at any time.
