The Williamson County Commissioners Court recently named a new roadway under construction in Precinct 4—between FM 3349 and FM 973 in Taylor—after the tech company whose employees it will service.
The county is constructing Samsung Highway next to the company’s semiconductor facility going up in Taylor. Segment 1 of the project, which will connect CR 404 to FM 973, is currently under construction and will be completed by this fall, according to the county. The second portion, or Segment 2, will connect CR 404 to FM 3349 and is expected to finish in fall 2024.
“It’s going to be a significant road,” Precinct 4 County Commissioner Russ Boles said during a December meeting. “With that type of development in the area, it allows people to zero in and find the quickest route there once we get everything in place and they get up and running. The roads that it’s replacing were older county roads. They had horrible 45-degree angle turns in them.”
Taking place south of the semiconductor plant, the road project costs around $22 million, with Samsung paying nearly $3 million into it.
