POSTED 7:34 p.m.

Leander voters cast ballots for three City Council positions during the May 7 election.

As of 7 p.m., early voting results have been reported from both Williamson and Travis counties. Early voting results include ballots cast via mail and in-person from April 25-May 3.

In the race for Place 1, incumbent Kathryn Pantalion-Parker has received 58.39% of the early vote. Pantalion-Parker, who works in sales, is serving her first term on City Council. Her challenger, Trey Schisser, a director of information technology security, trails with 41.61% of the vote.

In the four-way race for Place 3, no single candidate has a majority of the votes. David McDonald leads with 44.32%, followed by Juan Alanis with 22.71%, Steve Hanes with 20.81% and Roslyn Littles with 12.16%. McDonald has 25 years experience in city government, according to a Q&A he did with Community Impact Newspaper.

Place 3 incumbent Jason Shaw is not on the ballot for re-election.

Incumbent Chris Czernak, who was also elected to City Council in 2019, is leading the race for Place 5 with 44.66% of the early vote. Challengers Bill Louden and Annette Sponseller trail with 29.98% and 25.37% of the vote, respectively.

The Place 3 and Place 5 races will go to a runoff with the two highest vote-getting candidates unless a single candidate in each race receives more than 50% of the vote. A date for the runoff has not yet been set, according to the city.

All members of the Leander City Council serve at large, meaning each member represents the entire city. As a result, all Leander residents can vote for all of the seats up for election. Council members serve three-year terms.

During the early voting period, 7.02% of registered voters in Williamson County cast ballots. Travis County recorded a 6.75% early-voting turnout rate.
