Fashokun fills the Place 5 seat, which was vacated by Jim MacKay who resigned in September. The seat will be up for election in Nov. 2022 to finish the Place 5 term through Nov. 2024.
"I'm just ready to listen and learn and make a contribution and a difference, hopefully," Fashokun said at the meeting.
Fashokun is a parent to two Leander ISD students and served in PTA leadership, on the School Health Advisory Committee and on the Bond Oversight Committee, according to the district. Fashokun has a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Lagos, a master's degree in business administration from Carnegie Mellon University and a juris doctorate from Seattle University School of Law.
“I am thrilled that Sade will be joining the board,” Board President Trish Bode said in a district release. “She recognizes the learning potential of our Leander ISD students and seems eager to dive into the materials, do the research, and contribute her thoughtful voice to our team of eight.”
