Chaparral Ice—the anchor tenant of The Crossover sports/retail complex in Cedar Park—plans to open Aug. 1, according to its website. It will be the first business to open in the 240,000-square-foot multisports and retail complex at 1717 Scottsdale Drive.
On its two NHL-regulation ice rinks, 35 skate sessions, which include hockey and figure skating, will be offered. According to its website, special events include a “Frozen” skate session with Elsa, Anna and Olaf; broomball and dodgeball; and “Cosplay Saturday.”
Chaparral Ice, which has operated its original facility in Central Austin for more than 20 years, will also give away prizes on both days.
While all events are free, online preregistration is required for on-ice events.
“We couldn’t be more excited to see our doors open in Cedar Park and look forward to offering an array of skating and athletic options to a growing part of the region,” Chaparral Ice owner Ryan Raya said.
According to a news release, Chaparral Ice will operate a silver rink, which is designed to accommodate people with disabilities, and a gold rink, which is specifically designed for hockey.
Chaparral Ice will also oversee indoor and outdoor turf fields that can accommodate football, lacrosse, soccer and other field sports.
Chaparral Ice has announced senior management hires: Carly Reger (chief operating officer), Carl Wallin (hockey director), Jason Piche (senior operations manager) and Christian Isaac (field sports director).
More tenants will open in the subsequent months, according to a news release. In February, The Crossover announced it had signed six new tenants, bringing the total to eight.
Although The Crossover's mailing address is in Leander, the business is located in Cedar Park. Cedar Park City Council approved the development in 2018, and the facility will pay taxes to Cedar Park.
