One-sixth of voters went to the polls early in Central Texas

Early voter turnout percentage across Central Texas hovered in the mid-to-low teens for the Texas 2020 Primary Election.

In Guadalupe County, 14,352 voters went to the poll during early voting, a turnout of 13.7% among registered voters. Comal County was slightly higher with 17,387 voters bringing the county to 16.33% turnout.

Hays County had an early voting turnout of 16.3% with 23045 voters going to the polls.

Just over 16% of voters in Travis County voted early during the Texas 2020 Primary election, which the County Clerk tweeted broke a record for total number of voters. Williamson County’s early turnout was 15.14%.

During the two weeks of early voting, 131,920 people went to the polls in Travis. But this was not a record for turnout percentage. The 2008 primary had 20.9% turnout among registered voters.
