The Brazos River Authority sent out a Stage 2 drought warning to customers who get water from Stillhouse Hollow Lake and Lake Georgetown due to lack of water supplies, according to an Aug. 4 news release.

Who’s it for

Stillhouse Hollow Lake and Lake Georgetown supply water for:
  • the city of Georgetown
  • the city of Round Rock
  • the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District
  • other Central Texas cities and water suppliers
Current situation

During a Stage 2 Drought Warning, the BRA requires a 10%reduction in water use.

Stage 2 is the second of four stages in the Brazos River Authority's Drought Contingency Plan. This DCP helps preserve and extend water supplies during a drought, according to the release.

The context

Should drought conditions continue, the BRA will declare a Stage 3 Drought Emergency. This would be triggered if the lake level at Stillhouse Hollow drops below a certain threshold, according to the release. During Stage 3, customers would need to reduce water usage by at least 20%.
