The Travis County Water Control Improvement District No. 17 has issued and will be enforcing Stage 2 drought restrictions for its coverage area of Lakeway and West Austin on July 11. The issuance of these restriction comes as lake water levels hit historic lows, as previously reported by Community Impact.

"Conserving our most precious resource is imperative," WCID No. 17 General Manager Jason Homan said in a news release. “With the extreme heat as well as the ongoing drought we are currently experiencing, we are enforcing Stage 2 water restrictions and imposing fines on customers who repeatedly violate the conservation measure.”

The new restrictions mean residents can only water once a day between 7 p.m.-10 a.m. as follows:
  • Monday and Thursday: Residences ending in 0-3
  • Tuesday and Friday: Residences ending in 4-6, commercial properties
  • Wednesday and Saturday: Residences ending in 7-9
  • Sunday: None allowed
Residents in the affected area will receive an email warning if they violate the restrictions, followed by fines if the violations continue. Customers of WCID No. 17 can sign up for My Water Advisor 2.0 here to track their water usage.
