Various parts of Lakeline Boulevard will undergo pavement improvements after Cedar Park City Council cleared a $533,848 construction contract with Bennett Paving Inc. on May 9.

During the May 9 City Council meeting, Capital Projects Manager Chris Brickey said these improvements will not be as intense as last year’s repairs to the roadway.

About the project

Cedar Park’s 2024 Lakeline Boulevard rehabilitation/mill and overlay project is expected to boost the longevity, rideability and aesthetic of the roadway, according to city documents. The project is included in the city’s 2022 bond program.

The rehabilitation part of the project includes a full depth repair stretching from Whitestone Boulevard to New Hope Drive, per city documents. A full depth repair involves removing existing asphalt, repaving it with new asphalt and fresh pavement markings.

Brickey said the mill and overlay will be conducted from Rivera Drive to Whitestone Boulevard and on different portions of the road. A mill and overlay consists of grinding off the top layer of old asphalt and replacing it with new material.

This project will wrap up what crews couldn’t reach during last year’s repairs on Lakeline Boulevard, Brickey said.

What to expect

The rehabilitation portion will require up to two weeks of single lane closures overnight Monday through Friday, Brickey said. Drivers can also expect daily lane closures during the mill and overlay part of the project.

While a start date was not specified, Brickey said construction on the project is expected to last 30 days.
