Editor's note: This story was updated to clarify the timeline for both resurfacing projects.

Cedar Park crews will begin road resurfacing work on major roads and neighborhood streets for the 2024 cycle this summer.

Sorting out details

The road resurfacing project involves stripping and replacing the top 2 inches of asphalt on each identified roadway.

Road resurfacing extends the roadway’s service life; improves safety and mobility for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians; and enhances the visual appearance of the roads, Capital Projects Manager Chris Brickey said during the April 11 City Council meeting.

Costing roughly $1.5 million, Cedar Park’s 2024 major road resurfacing project identifies the following roadways for improvements:
  • Colonial Parkway
  • Portions of East Park Street
  • Hatch Road
  • Market Street
  • Walton Way

Additionally, city crews will be concurrently working on the 2024 neighborhood road resurfacing project, which costs about $1.8 million. The roads identified in this project are located in the following neighborhoods:
  • Buttercup Creek
  • Carriage Hills
  • Coventry Crossing
  • Deerfield Park
  • Heritage Park
  • High Meadows
  • Park Place
What to expect

Brickey said work on the roadways will take about 90 days to complete. However, specific start and completion times for either resurfacing project is not yet available, officials said.
