Leander ISD approves resolution for long-range planning efforts

The board of trustees unanimously approved a resolution Sept. 30 that outlines the framework to address financial sustainability and long-range planning efforts.

Per district documents, the resolution is intended to establish a clear process for long-range planning, define roles and outline timelines for the 2026-27 school year and beyond.

Some of the key details of the resolution include:
  • Establishing criteria and thresholds for campus consolidation
  • Consulting with community and staff before implementing educational program changes
  • Finding revenue generation and expenditure reduction strategies
  • Engaging with the community and staff members to implement solutions

New principal to lead Leander ISD's Early College High School

Current Danielson Middle School principal Erika Cruz is set to take over as principal of the Early College High School.

Cruz said she will work with Danielson's assistant principals to minimize disruptions as she supports both campuses during this transitional phase.

Leander ISD trustee Francesca Romans announces resignation

Leander ISD Place 6 trustee Francesca Romans announced her resignation Oct. 22, which the board will formally accept at a special meeting Oct. 28.

Romans was first elected to the board in 2022, and said she is stepping away due to health reasons. The board will either appoint a member to serve out the remainder of Romans' term through November 2026 or call a special election.
