Leander ISD officials are working to create the district's academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year while receiving feedback from community members.

District officials discussed the tentative calendar for next school year at a Nov. 7 board of trustees meeting.

The overview

The board of trustees approved a tentative calendar for the 2025-26 school year when it adopted the 2024-25 academic calendar in February.

The draft academic calendar for next school year includes the following dates:
  • A short first week of school starting Wednesday, Aug. 13
  • A staff development day for parent teacher conferences Oct. 13
  • A weeklong Thanksgiving break Nov. 24-28
  • Two weeks for winter break Dec. 22-Jan. 5
  • An early release day at the end of each semester Dec. 19 and May 22
  • Spring break March 16-20, aligning with Austin Community College
  • The last day of school falling before Memorial Day weekend May 22

Community members can complete an online survey to provide their input on the calendar until Dec. 3. LISD has received nearly 1,000 responses so far, Area Superintendent Angela Hodges said at a Nov. 7 meeting.

In recent weeks, the district met with student groups, campus administration and district committees, and held community listening sessions. LISD has sought to create various ways to provide feedback “so that everybody has a voice in this process,” Hodges said.

Next steps

District officials will present a calendar recommendation at a Jan. 9 meeting, which will go to the board of trustees for approval Jan. 23, according to district information.
