Manuel Berrios had years of experience being a chef in Cedar Park and a long-time dream of opening a restaurant. In collaboration with his brother, Bulmaro Berrios, the pair decided to go for it and launch a family business built to serve the entire community.

A family affair

The Berrios brothers opened Dos Hermanos Café and Tex Mex in Cedar Park in January 2024, according to manager Jackie Jaimes. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu stacked full of Tex Mex, American classics and craft cocktails.

The background

The restaurant moved into the former Gloria's Cafe & Bakery spot, according to previous Community Impact reporting. Many of the current Dos Hermanos Café and Tex Mex employees worked there prior to its closure in May 2023. Jaimes served as a manager at Gloria's Cafe & Bakery and said that employees were laid off nearly overnight. With the opening of Dos Hermanos Café and Tex Mex, employees returned to work, customers returned to the building and the restaurant built a menu that offers breakfast and Tex Mex to appeal to everyone, Jaimes said.

“There's a little bit of Gloria's still here with us: familiar faces, clientele and our cooks,” Jaimes said. “I think if you haven't tried us you will be pleasantly surprised and you'll enjoy your meals here.”

On the menu

Dos Hermanos Café and Tex Mex has a range of menu offerings for each meal time. Breakfast options include skillets, steak and eggs, breakfast tacos, omelets, chilaquiles, migas and more.

The large selection of different foods is what sets the restaurant apart from other competitors, Jaimes said.

Lunch and dinner items include a selection of soups and salads, taco plates, enchiladas, fajitas, sandwiches, burgers, chicken fried steak and more. The restaurant also features daily specials including deals on taco Tuesday and breakfast specials during the week.

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere

Dos Hermanos Café and Tex Mex houses a full bar also with a cocktail and drink menu. The restaurant offers a variety of cocktails like the Mex-Tini, house margaritas, chocolate martini and the tropical bliss which includes Malibu, spiced rum, pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine.

“We have great cocktails, great specialty drinks that everybody seems to love,” Jaimes said. “We have margaritas, draft beer [and] bottled beer. We have everything that you could want. You could come here for breakfast and you could come back for dinner.”

Staying local

Jaimes’ favorite part about being a manager at Dos Hermanos Café and Tex Mex is being surrounded by customers that feel like family.

“It doesn't feel like I'm coming to work,” Jaimes said. “Sometimes I'll sit down and [ask] ‘how are you doing?’ And then I'll go sit down with somebody else and then so on. So that's absolutely my favorite thing, not feeling like I'm serving random people, but serving people that I know, that I love, that I care about, that I know care about us as well.”
