The clinic will allow thousands of LISD staff members to access health care services, including same- or next-day appointments, company representative Casey Clay said.
Some context
While the company's clinics are typically open to the public, the new Leander location will exist exclusively for LISD staff and their dependents, Clay said. The district employs more than 6,000 educators and support staff, according to district information.
The specifics
The clinic will be located in a shopping center at the intersection of Hero Way West and North Bagdad Road, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The 3,675-square-foot building will feature a reception area, exam rooms, offices, restrooms and support spaces, per TDLR.
The big picture
Frontier Direct Care has engaged in discussions with several school districts across the state about potentially opening new clinics for their staff, Clay said. LISD is the first large school district the company has built a clinic for.
"It saves the staff members money and time, gives them better quality and care, and saves the district money at the end of the day," Clay said about the district-specific clinics.
