WHAT WE REPORTED Site work began Sept. 14, 2015, on The Range at Austin, a facility that will offer range shooting and firearms and accessories for sale as well as training and private event space, spokesperson Scott Dunaway said. When it opens, the space will be home to a 52,000-square-foot range with 37 rifle lanes.

THE LATEST Members are being offered opportunities to visit the facility before the general public, Dunaway said. The Range received its temporary certificate of occupancy in December and opened its VIP member area, The Patriot Club, on a limited basis.

WHAT'S NEXT As construction wraps up, the business is finishing bringing in products for retail and expects to open the full facility under limited hours in late January and with a grand opening Feb. 1.
