The new owners of Disc Nation on Slaughter Lane aim to expand the disc golf shop’s offerings and renovate its driving range in 2016.
Southwest Austinites Shannon and Sean Mullan took over ownership of the shop July 1.
The husband-and-wife team shopped at the business under its previous owner, and both are avid disc golf fans, Sean said.
The couple intends to make a few changes to the business, such as carrying more products—including as many as 20,000 discs on a daily basis—and welcoming members of the community to the shop on a regular basis for competitions and classes with expert advice.
“We have decided to start doing, at the very least, monthly events here,” Sean said.
Events will include disc clinics specifically for women, as well as clinics for children in the area, Shannon said.
New discs range in price from $7.99 to $18.99; the shop also sells used discs and collectibles.
The driving range, where visitors to the shop can test out discs before purchasing them, will feature new tee boxes, obstacles and targets when it is updated this spring, Shannon said.
