The Bastrop Museum and Visitor Center will partner with the Austin Museum Partnership for Austin Museum Day from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 17. Volunteer docents will be available to lead free tours. This is the first year that the Bastrop Museum will take part in the annual event.
"We are delighted to collaborate with the Austin Museum Partnership this year for Austin Museums Free Day," Executive Director Nicole DeGuzman said in a press release. "This partnership exemplifies our commitment to sharing Bastrop's history and heritage with a wider audience. We are excited to welcome visitors from near and far to experience the rich tapestry of our community and to be part of this remarkable cultural event."
According to museum officials, the event has consistently celebrated the region's rich history, art and heritage by bringing people closer to their roots and fostering a sense of unity.
The museum will celebrate the opening of a new exhibition, "Hispanic Heritage, Bastrop Roots" at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 20.
