Bastrop water treatment plant to begin tests in November

Testing will begin on the Bastrop water treatment plant in November, the next step in bringing the plant online after a year delay.

The plant is located south of Griesenbeck Ranch Road between the Colorado River and Hwy. 304.

Water wells at XS Ranch to provide Bastrop water in May to meet growing needs


Three new water wells at XS Ranch will start pumping from the Simsboro Aquifer in May. Located along SH 95, the city well field will consist of a total of four wells.

According to the XS Ranch Final Review memorandum, the wells are estimated to produce 6,000 acre-feet per year of water for the city.

6 housing developments coming to Bastrop

Bastrop’s population is estimated to double within the near future. Several developments are underway in Bastrop to address the growing need.


Further developments are currently in the planning stage, City Manager Sylvia Carrillo said.

“I think we’re going to get to 40,000 residents sooner than folks actually think,” Carrillo said at the Oct. 24 City Council meeting.
