Blakey Lane Extension

Project: Blakey Lane in Bastrop will be extended from Edward Burleson Lane to a proposed street called Reed Way, south from Reed Way to Old Austin Highway.

Update: Austin-based The Goodman Corp. is creating potential designs for an intersection at Old Austin Highway, which will include options for a roundabout.
  • Timeline: expected to finish the planning phase Dec. 26
  • Cost: $7-8 million
  • Funding source: transportation impact fees, roadway maintenance fees, and water and wastewater fees
Agnes Street Extension


Project: Agnes Street in Bastrop is being extended to connect developments south of Hwy. 71.

Update: The city plans to announce a date for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
  • Timeline: expected to finish construction Dec. 15
  • Cost: $5.27 million
  • Funding source: Texas General Land Office Community Development Block Grant Mitigation grant awarded to the city in May 2021
Old Iron Bridge Rehabilitation

Project: The pedestrian and bicycle route in Bastrop is undergoing a full rehabilitation, including a concrete deck and steel truss components, and the installation of railing and decorative lights.

Update: An eastbound lane on the Loop 150 Bridge was closed to accommodate the rehabilitation of the Old Iron Bridge, and will remain so through about February.
  • Timeline: expected to finish construction Sept. 11, 2026
  • Cost: $10.1 million
  • Funding source: certificates of obligation series 2018, 2023 and 2025
Farm Street, Linden Street and Water Street Improvements


Project: Crews will reconstruct pavement along the primary sections of Farm, Linden and Water streets in Bastrop.

Update: Crews will reconstruct the remaining segments of the corridors when the initial phase is completed.
  • Timeline: expected to begin construction Oct. 20
  • Cost: $4.36 million
  • Funding source: certificates of obligation series 2022 and 2023
Upcoming projects

290 Extension Project


Project: The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is working with the Texas Department of Transportation on a schematic design to reduce congestion along 15 miles of Hwy. 290 between Hwy. 130 and Hwy. 95 South.


Update: A public survey concluded Oct. 10.
  • Timeline: expected to complete first draft of schematic design mid-2026
  • Cost: TBD

Hwy. 71 and Tucker Hill Lane Intersection Improvement

Project: TxDOT will begin a signalized intersection at Tucker Hill Lane into a grade-separated overpass and construct new one-way frontage roads. The project also includes expanded accommodations for bicycles and pedestrians.

Update: Jordan Foster Construction will complete the project.
  • Timeline: scheduled to begin in late 2025
  • Cost: $58.5 million
