The Bastrop Museum and Visitor Center was recently announced as a top-three finalist for the Austin Community's Choice Awards.

This marks the third recognition the museum has earned this year.

Two-minute impact

Voters placed the museum higher than others in the area, including the Blanton Museum of Art and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.

The winners will be revealed at an awards gala on Sept. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Austin, reserved for finalists and their guests.

What else?

In January, the museum was named Nonprofit of the Year by the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce for its commitment to the county’s history through exhibits, educational programs and publications—chosen out of 170 countywide nonprofits.

In April, the museum received the John L. Nau III Award of Excellence in Museums for its achievements in historical interpretation, museum education, collection conservation and community involvement—chosen out of over 1,000 other museums.
