The Bastrop Chamber of Commerce highlighted the Bastrop Museum and Visitor Center with the distinction of nonprofit of the year. One of Bastrop’s 170 nonprofits, the museum was recognized for its commitment to the county’s history through exhibits, educational programs and publications.

A closer look

The museum and visitors center helped promote the city’s economic growth, serving over 15,000 tourists in 2023.

The center is also responsible for hosting local events, including Music in the Museum, a monthly live concert series, as well as lectures open to the public.

"This recognition is a testament to the dedication and passion of our staff, volunteers and board members,” said Nicole DeGuzman, executive director of the Bastrop Museum and Visitor Center, in a press release. "We are humbled to be chosen among so many outstanding nonprofits in our community.”

The award was presented to DeGuzman at the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce awards luncheon.

“This award motivates us to continue serving Bastrop County with even greater enthusiasm and creativity," DeGuzman said in the release.
