A new exhibit at the Bastrop County Museum & Visitor Center explores the history and cultural impact of the Texas Rangers by way of Bastrop County Sheriff Maurice Cook—a former Texas Rangers chief.

What to expect

According to a news release, “The Texas Rangers: A Legacy of Law and Legend” traces the organization’s evolution from its early frontier roots to its present-day role in Texas law enforcement.

Visitors will find historic documents, personal items and pop culture pieces, including badges used in the television show "Walker, Texas Ranger," on which Cook served as a consultant, museum officials said.

What else?

A raffle of Texas Ranger items donated by Cook, with proceeds benefiting the Bastrop County Historical Society, will be available throughout the exhibit.

Raffle tickets are $5 apiece or five for $20. A winner will be selected and announced live on social media when the exhibit closes.
